Andaman looks to revive tourism industry with upcoming festive season of Durga Puja

The upcoming festival of Durga Puja poses as a gateway for Andaman and Nicobar Islands to open their tourism industry again after 6 months. This shines as a ray of hope to the locals and other stakeholders as a lot of people depend on tourism activities for their livelihood. The Union Territory has lost about INR 8,000 crores and over 35,000 families have been affected with the shutdown of tourism activities in this archipelago.
Even after partially opening up the tourism sector, the Andamans have seen only less visitors. Looking forward to the 5-day Durga Puja festivities that begins on October 22, they expect to receive more travelers and visitors to kick start their operations. The beaches, museums, light and sound shows, water sports, boat rides, and snorkeling have reopened in the first phase of resuming tourism activities.
