A new smartphone app will allow passengers traveling internationally to ensure how securely they have complied with testing and other requirements related to COVID-19 and travel. This was initiated by a Switzerland-based public-interest foundation, Commons Project Foundation, to encourage people to fly again. The digital health pass app called CommonPass was tested by United Airlines Flight 15 with volunteers from Heathrow to Newark observed by officials from the US Centers for Disease and Prevention and the Customs and Border Protection.
The aim of the CommonPass project in collaboration with Switzerland’s World Economic Forum is to establish a standard to prove lab results, vaccination records, and accommodate changing criteria set by the governments.
